Epson uses it's own propriety drivers. That's fine for me as long 'as it works'.
drivers can be found here:

ubuntu downloads the drivers automatically during install
latest install in ubuntu failed.
checked the log file (tail /var/log/jockey.log)
found there these messages:

Ok that means the repository has been added to the apt sources.
so did a manualy install:
sudo apt-get install epson-inkjet-printer-201105w
answered the trust origin question with yes. and went back to the regular install of the printer.
ok now opensuse
downloaded the 486 rpm version
as root did rpm -Uvh epson-inkjet-printer-201108w-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm
got a dependency message about lsb >= 3.2
so dit zypper install lsb
did again rpm -Uvh epson-inkjet-printer-201108w-1.0.0-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm
drivers installed (for the 235w).......
didn't understand a 'sikkepit' from yast.
did it the http://localhost:631/ way.
